Pays du Thabor Ski Touring

Week 2 of the family ski holiday – with mum heading back home to work and a good forecast ahead, we ramped things up a bit and set off on a 3 day mini tour, staying at the lovely Refuge du Thabor.  This is a great French touring region with loads of different possibilities, so ideal for a first multiday tour with a couple of youngsters (it forms part of our La Grave Intro Ski Touring Week).

The trip started with a 900m skin up to the hut – which tired me out, but didn’t seem to dampen the kids’ spirits; I went for an afternoon nap whilst they went out digging in the snow!  Next day we skinned up across couple of cols to a nice summit and back via a different circular route, then the final day took in another steeper col and a big long descent back down to the valley:
