Just a quick roundup from this weeks BMC Alpine Meet courses, which we are running again this year. For the 1st week of the meet we had a big sociable team out, with 5 guides working and 20 BMC members all keen to learn new alpine skills. The first three days were spent up at the Moiry Hut, covering glacier travel, crevasse rescue and moving together skills – with ascents being made of the Pigne de la Le, Dent des Rosses and Pointe de Mourti in pretty mixed weather.

On Wednesday afternoon however, the heavens opened big style, with heavy rain and snow down to 2000m – so Thursday was spent prussicking and doing rope and rescue skills on the crag near the campsite in Saas Grund.
Friday dawned clear however, in time for a final ascent of the Allalinhorn in plenty of fresh snow – allowing many to climb their first 4000m peak independantly, under the watchful eye of the guides.
