Jonny Baird & Phil Timms have just got back from a very productive Alpine Grand Courses week in Eastern Switzerland in the Bernina and Bregaglia ranges. First they climbed the magnificent Biancograt on Piz Bernina, before traversing Piz Palu and returning to Pontresina. Then it was up to the Sasc Fura hut for the classic North Ridge of Piz Badile and down to the Gianetti hut over in Italy, before making the long traverse back into Switzerland to complete the week.
Piz Palu – Bernina Range
Jonny reports that the snow aretes on the Biancograt and Piz Palu are both holding up well and not yet too icy. In the Bregaglia, both the North ridge and Cassin routes on the Badile are receiving a lot of traffic now that they have dried out properly.
