Getting Ready for the Winter…

It’s been a day at Backcountry UK and back to ski school for me – or rather ‘The Andy Hall Masterclass in Ski Repair’ after I presented him with two well abused pairs of planks to squeeze a few more turns out of this morning.

It was down to the workshop for a patching session, before Andy embarked on a 4hr monster boot fit with Simon - one of our Alpine Guides customers in to buy a first set of touring boots.  I don’t know another shop on Earth that spends so much time looking after their customers!

Meanwhile Powell the Goafer attended to coffee making, phone duties, online orders and general hamfisted antics such as – ‘Look, I can take you up the Matterhorn or pull you out of a crevasse - but I can’t work the shop till yet!’

Rich flew out to the Alps yesterday for our first winter ice hit of the season – some mountain couloir action down in the Ecrins looked on the cards, before heading up to Cham later in the week - so we’ll keep you posted about what’s going on as the week unfolds.
